The onsen seems pretty nice and the room were pretty decent in size. One of the better looking hotels compared to the rest in takayama.
The hotel does not provide a computer down the lobby nor have free wifi. So unless you have your own pc to connect in the room, you won't have any free wifi service or Internet on your iPhones or mobile devices.
Lovely onsen on top floor - hotel modern (3 yrs old) and very bright
When you book a 'standard double room' through Booked.net you are actually allocated a single room by the hotel. This has a 140cm bed - to get a proper double (as described on the hotel's own website) you need to pay an additional 3000 yen at check-in to upgrade.
The situation is good, very near of Takayama train station. Clean and confortable
The service speak very few english
Friendly staff. Very clean. Lovely roof top spa. Small rooms but basically Japanese business style size. Good tourist venue. Central location for Takayama.
Hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the train station. Room is comfortable clean and good size. Very convenient to eateries and the town main tourist area. Hotel has a onsen (separate rooms for men and women) on the top floor. And there is an outdoor onsen connected to the main room. When we were there it snowed. It was a thrilling experience to be sitting in the outdoor onsen with snow flakes falling from the sky onto your face! We requested for a high floor room and were pleasantly surprised when the room acceded to our request. Breakfast is an additional Yen 1200 per pax. Must visit the morning market for local fruits (apples and grapes) The market is not big maybe about 20 stalls. Must also make a trip to Shirakawago from Takayama.
We stayed end October 2 nights in Spa Hotel Alpina. We found the staff not friendly and not helpful. The room was ultra small, aprox 10 m², with a double bed and not much else. The room would be considered small with a single bed. Fortunately we were travelling light, because there would not have been place for a suitcase. The bathroom was like being in a high security prison, very small, grey colours and a fluorescent light. I had to go both evenings to the reception to ask them to put the heating on. (It was about 12° C outside) The only positive item was the spa, which was well equiped and pleasant. I cannot recommend this hotel.
Location is convenient, just a couple of minutes walk from the railway station. The hotel is very clean, functional and quiet. Fine for what it is, but without frills.
The water in the onsen (public bath) was not hot enough. The hotel charges to park a car. The price is a bit much for two people, and you can find cheaper if you don't mind not having a lukewarm onsen. Also the breakfast is overpriced at Y1,200.
Lovely Hotel in good location. Fantastic spa on roof with view of city and all amenities in the hotel, restaurant etc, Staff very helpful, even made a phone call for me to make a reservation in the next town I was travelling to.
The location was perfect and very easy to find from the train station. It worked great for day trips into the Alps, and also as a base to explore Takayama. Rooms were clean, if small (or standard size for Japan). Onsen was nice.
Wish they had towels available at the onsen, instead of bringing the one from your room.
The location was wonderful and the rooftop baths were very nice.
We stayed for three nights and every morning the western breakfast was exactly the same. It was rather expensive and there should have been a variety of breakfast items.
This hotel is excellent value for money. The rooms are comfortable and very clean.Staff couldn't be more helpful Breakfast is excellent value. Located in the centre of Takayama walking distance to station and all the main sights.
Hotel was very close to the station with good facilities and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The main attractions and shopping areas were very close by.
Had no issues with the hotel at all.
Great rooftop onsen, both indoor and outdoor. Good location for railway station and for old town. Very modern and clean.
We were initially put into a standard twin on 8th floor which was just below the spa bath so the noise of water gurgling was just too much so we aslked to be moved. They moved us without any question and put us in a bigger room for no extra charge so overall no complaint but advice is to avoid 8th floor.
Bleak modern design, needs some pictures or decoration. Ugly, uncomfortable furniture. No lounge, bar or public space.
Good location close to train, tourist attractions and shops. Marvelous well appointed thermal spa on the hotel roof with many extras free of charge to hotel guests. Good breakfast European and Japanese both reasonably priced. Staff are very courteous and helpfull but do not speak English. Close to some good Japanese restaurants.
The rooms are very very small. The bathroom is tiny and imposible to get two people in at once.
